Wishes for a harmonious and blissful Ram Navami

Happy Ram-navami

Ram Navami marks the birth anniversary of Lord Rama. It is considered as one of the five major Hindu festivals. According to mythology, Sri Rama was the 7th incarnation or avatar of Lord Vishnu. He was born on the ninth day of the lunar month of Chaitra.

Celebrated as the day of descent of Lord Rama to Earth to save the world from the demon king Ravana, Rama Navami is a festival cherished by the ardent devotees of the Supreme Lord.

Happy Ram Navami Wishes

Ram Navami is a Hindu Spring festival which falls on the ninth day of month Chaitra. On this auspicious day, followers of Lord Rama keep a day-long fast. The fast begins in the morning and extends till the sunrise of the following day. Devotees also worship God by listening or reciting the epic Ramayana. The festival is also celebrated by performing the ceremonial wedding of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita.

The Significance of Ram Navami

Lord Rama was considered the 7th avatar of the Supreme Lord Vishnu and one of the most popular incarnations alongside Lord Krishna and Lord Parshuram. He was born to Queen Kausalya and King Dasharatha, ruler of the kingdom of Kosala, in a place called Ayodhya (city in modern-day Uttar Pradesh).

Considered as a supreme being, Lord Rama’s descent to the land of humans is celebrated as Rama Navami. Born on the ninth day of the lunar month Chaitra, the birth of Lord Rama in the Treta Yuga was for a noble cause. As he was the avatar of Lord Vishnu, it was believed that he would help the world get rid of the demon king Ravana.

Despite being a supreme being, Lord Rama ensured a life of hardships as common man. He was sent to exile by his father, King Dashrath on the orders of his stepmother Queen Kaikeyi. Being the dutiful son, He accepted his father’s commandment and went to exile with his wife and younger brother without any opposition. Thus, not only his name, but his deeds make his devotees worship him as a God and celebrate his birthday every year as festival of Rama Navami.

How is Ram Navami celebrated

Rama Navami 2023 is one of the major Hindu festivals and is celebrated with great fervor. On Rama Navami, lots of devotees visit temples. Some devotees delight in giving a bath and dressing up tiny idols of Rama and later place them in a cradle. A lamp is also lit in front of the idol, and kheer is made as an offering to God.

Some devotees celebrate Navami by giving food to the needy. Kanya Pooja is also performed on this day, wherein nine girls are invited to the devotee’s home and treated with respect as Hindus feel that they represent the goddesses. Prasad comprising halwa and puri is also prepared and offered to the girls.

The day begins with devotees offering prayers to the Sun. The Sun is a symbol of power, and it is believed to be Rama’s ancestor. Hence, it is believed that praying to the Sun in the morning to seek divine blessings is auspicious.

Devotees of Rama spend the day singing devotional songs and listening to recitals from religious books, and chanting Vedic hymns. Priests preach sermons from the religious texts. Some keep fast for the entire day. All these practices help purify the mind and the body. At the end of the day, devotees have fruits and sweets to break the fast. The chariot procession or Rath Yatra is an important part of the festival.

The images of Rama, Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman are placed in a decorated chariot and taken out in a procession on the streets. Taking a bath in the river Sarayu in Ayodhya is another important ritual. It is believed to purify the body and soul. In South India, the festival is also celebrated as the wedding anniversary of Rama and Sita.

Anvadhan is observed before Ishti. On the day of Anvadhan, followers of Hinduism observe a fast all day long. And on the day of Ishti, followers perform Yajna. Ishti is a ritual that devotees perform for a short duration to pray for the fulfilment of their desires. It is like a ‘Havan‘ that lasts for a few hours, unlike those that last for an entire day, weeks, months, or years.

Vaishnava Sampradaya people perform Ishti observances to do virtuous deeds and solicit Lord Vishnu to obtain their desirable things. They observe the fasting ritual to honor their divine God, Vishnu. As per belief, if one performs homa on the day of Ishti, Vishnu will shower his blessings on them. Whatever one wishes, they will see the lights of fulfillment. Wishes for Happy and Prosperous Holi

Happy and prosperous Holi, a poster of a festival of colors

Story behind Holi

Holi is celebrated as the victory of good over evil. Asura King Hiranyakashipu was blessed with a boon, which made him feel that he would never die. This made the king arrogant, and he demanded even gods should worship him.

King Hiranyakashipu’s son, Prahlada, never supported his father and worshipped Lord Vishnu with utmost devotion. This made the king annoyed, and he decided to kill Prahlada. King’s sister Holika had a boon, that she cannot be burnt in a fire.

King asked Holika to sit on a pyre with her nephew Prahlada, but when the fire was lit, it roared heavily leading to the death of Holika. Moreover, to the evil king’s surprise, Prahlad survived. Hence, the triumph of good over evil.

Festival of Colors

The festival of colors, Holi, is the most vibrant of all Hindu festivals. It marks the end of winter in India and welcomes the spring season. On this festive day, people play with colors, meet, and greet one another and create new beginnings.

Like every other festival in India, Holi is also associated with popular legends. There are extremely interesting stories behind this colorful festival too.

Story of Lord Krishna and Radha

In the region of Braj (where Lord Krishna grew up) in Uttar Pradesh, Holi is celebrated until the day of Rangpanchmi as a huge festival, in memory of the devotional love of Krishna and Radha.

A local legend is associated with this as well. When Krishna was a baby, he acquired a distinctive blue skin color after drinking the poisoned breast milk of the she-demon, Putana. Later, when he became young, he would often feel sad about whether the fair-colored Radha or other girls in the village would ever like him because of his dark color. Giving in to his desperation, Krishna’s mother asked him to go and color Radha’s face with any color he wanted to.

So, when Krishna applied color to Radha, they both became a couple, and since then, people started playing with colors on Holi and wishing each other happy and prosperous Holi.

Holi celebration in india

Celebrating the colorful festival of Holi involves several rituals:

  • Preparation of Holika Pyre – Days before the festival, people start to collect wood and other inflammable material for the bonfire. On top of the bonfire, an effigy of Holika is kept, this effigy should get burned with it, as per the legend.
  • Holika Dahan – This is the first day of the Holi festival and is also celebrated as Chhoti Holi. After sunset, people gather around the pyre, perform puja (prayers) and then light it. People even sing and dance around the pyre, as it symbolizes the triumph of good over bad.
  • Rangpanchami or Playing with Colors – The second day of Holi is called Rangwali Holi, Dhuleti, or Badi Holi. This is the day when people apply colors to one another, party and enjoy. Children and youngsters play in groups with dry colors and water guns, water balloons filled with colored solutions and other creative things. They dance with drums and other musical instruments, dancing and singing their way from one place to another. Wishing each other, Happy and Prosperous Holi.
  • The after-party – After playing with colors during the day, people clean themselves up, bathe, sober up and get dressed. They then go to visit their relatives and friends and greet them for the festival.

May this Holi Festival mark the beginning of a new phase of your life, filled with success, prosperity, and unlimited happiness.

Wishes for a Happy New Year 2023

Happy-New-Year-2023-wishes

There are a lot of mixed feelings on New Year’s Eve — this day gives us the opportunity to reflect on the past year with all its highs and lows, but we also get ready to party our way into the New Year of 2023.

Here’s our toast to a new day, new year, and new beginnings!

Why is it celebrated

The Gregorian calendar we use today was introduced by the Vatican in Rome under Pope Gregory XIII in October 1582.
The Gregorian calendar is based on the solar year and replaced an ancient Roman calendar that was based on the lunar cycle of the earth’s moon.

The Gregorian calendar was introduced by Roman Emperor Julius Caesar during his reign around 44 B.C. Prior to the adoption of the Gregorian calendar as the global standard, most of the ancient world ran on many different and diverse calendaring systems to track the passage of time.

New Year’s Eve on December 31 marks the final day of what is known as a Gregorian calendar year.

Wish you a very Happy and Healthy New Year 2023.

Wishing that you have a truly remarkable and blissful year ahead!

Happy new year to you and your family!

Team Blossom Inc

As 2022 comes to a close, Blossom Inc is grateful to all their customers, partners, system integrators and resellers for their support this past year.

Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Year and looking forward to a great 2023!
